Buckingham’s much loved History of Art and Heritage public lecture series returns this summer and we invite you to step back in time with us to revisit the lives and works of three of the worlds most famous artists, sculptors and painters.

Sandro Botticelli – Life, Art and Legend

In this lecture Jeremy Howard explores the life and art of one of Florence’s most popular and familiar, but in some ways most enigmatic of artists, and the ways in which our attitudes towards his art have been shaped by his later admirers such as the Pre-Raphaelites.

Finding Fra Angelico in Oxford: Concluding the Story of a Medici Masterpiece from Florence?

 

Mr Michael Liversidge, Consultant to the MA in Decorative Arts and Historic Interiors course at the University of Buckingham, will discuss the Fra Angelico discovery made four years ago, and subsequent developments which culminated in an exhibition at San Marco in 2008-09.

Our public lectures are free to attend and open to all.

The University of Buckingham public lectures are held in the Ian Fairbairn Lecture Hall, Chandos Road Building and commence at 18:30.  Drinks are served in Seminar Rooms 4 & 5 following the lectures for all those who would like to stay for a short time of informal discussion.

Free parking is available off Hunter Street or opposite the Chandos Road Building.
